Makes repairs, installations, or completes preventative maintenance with minimal interruption to production.  Such work activities include adjustment, correct damage, troubleshooting, etc. As directed by Supervisor, maintains performance and maintenance records on equipment in accordance with the predetermined preventive maintenance program. Interprets drawings and wiring diagrams.  Fabricates and constructs parts as required using common maintenance machines and hand tools. Performs all of the above work consistent with department and plant safety practices.  Considers all safety precautions and proper isolation of circuits to cause a minimum of hazard and interference to operations.  Keeps work area in a clean and orderly manner, and takes proper care of tools and equipment. Must have ability to interpret blueprints and schematics, (electrical, pneumatics, hydraulic, and piping), machine and building drawings. Must have working knowledge of electrical control systems.  Ability to troubleshoot electronics and machine process control programs. Must have working knowledge of power transmission systems, chain, belt, and gear drives, speed reducers, sprocket, gear, and pulley ratios. Must have understanding of pumps, and valves and their applications. Must be able to operate company equipment, to include trucks, forklifts, electric lifts and “cherry pickers". Ability to accomplish arc and gas welding, brazing, silver and soft soldering. Ability to accomplish compressed air, stem, water and oil plumbing.
