Details: STATEMENT OF JOB To install, assemble, inspect, adjust, service and repair mechanical and electrical equipment for general plant and production purposes.  PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITILITES AND DUTIES ARE: Receives maintenance work assignments, via oral instructions, from supervisor or lead person.  Evaluates the assignments and determines a logical approach to performing each assignment. Inspects mechanical and electrical equipment for safe and proper operation. Works with Maintenance Supervisor to improve performance and safety.  Notifies department manager/supervisor of any malfunctioning equipment. Utilizes safety policies and procedures, to include Lock Out/Tag Out, when performing job duties.  Ensures that required safety guards are in place during operation inspection and recommends initial installation safety guards, where necessary. Inspects new mechanical and electrical equipment to determine proper installation procedures.  Works with Maintenance Supervisor on the repair and maintenance of new equipment. Makes repairs, installations, or completes preventative maintenance with minimal interruption to production.  Such work activities include adjustment, correct damage, troubleshooting, etc. As directed by Supervisor, maintains performance and maintenance records on equipment in accordance with the predetermined preventive maintenance program. Interprets drawings and wiring diagrams.  Fabricates and constructs parts as required using common maintenance machines and hand tools. Performs all of the above work consistent with department and plant safety practices.  Considers all safety precautions and proper isolation of circuits to cause a minimum of hazard and interference to operations.  Keeps work area in a clean and orderly manner, and takes proper care of tools and equipment. Must have ability to interpret blueprints and schematics, (electrical, pneumatics, hydraulic, and piping), machine and building drawings. Must have working knowledge of power transmission systems, chain, belt, and gear drives, speed reducers, sprocket, gear, and pulley ratios.
